Compel FC acquires Nyota's FC in merger deal

Football Kenya Federation Western Division Two side Compel Football Club have completed takeover of FKF Division One outfit Nyota FC after the two sides agreed on a merger, Mozzart Sport can exclusively report.

Compel FC took part in Western region promotion play offs though for a second consecutive year lost to GFE 105 FC, who advanced to the third tier after battering Ichuni Combined.

Confirming the developments Nyota chairman Fred Harrison Wesonga said that the takeover was necessitated as he had decided to focus more on his personnel work and Compel proved the suitable suitors for the coveted slot.

"I will not continue with Nyota next season," offered media mogul Wesonga. "My sole concentration is on managing our services after relocating from Bungoma to Mumias therefore it will be difficult to take control of the club." He said

"On Sunday we finalized all documentations and Compel management have officially taken over the club," he continued.

Compel, who host their home matches at Ilala Stadium, Webuye, are set to hit the ground running after completion of the acquisition process.

"It has been a pretty quick process and the team has already started preparation towards the new season, hopefully, they catch up with other experienced sides in the league." Said Fred.

The move marks the end of the iconic Mumias club tenure in the region as they are set to shift their camp to Webuye.

Nyota was acquired two seasons ago from the then varsity boys team MMUST FC after unsuccessful takeover by Kakamega politician Cleophas Malala and had their best campaign in last season, finishing fourth on 44 points sixteen points behind promotion spot.

Webuye stationed Compel, have intensified their preparations for life in the third tier and will on Saturday host National Super League side Naivas FC in a preseason friendly match as they map an automatic promotion plan next season.
