Chege takes over the reins at 3K FC

Chege’s campaign at the club starts on Saturday with an entertaining clash away to Malindi United at the Malindi Kagombani Grounds

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Division One side 3K FC have completed the acquisition of Francis Chege as their new head coach with the announcement set for Monday evening, Mozzart Sport can confirm.

The role became vacant following the sacking of promotion-earning gaffer Moses Mwai who was relieved of his duties.

Prior to his appointment, Chege was in charge of fourth-tier side Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology Football Club and Juja Community Club where is acknowledged for nurturing aspiring football talents, something that gave him an edge over the rest for the most sort managerial post.

Confirming his capture, impeccable sources at the club stated that, Chege's wealthy career in dealing with young players is what stood out most and drove the club towards securing his signature after having him at their base for the last two weeks.

"He has proved severally that he is one of the best when it comes to talent development which resonates with our philosophy, therefore, he stood out among many coaches who showed interest in replacing Mwai," said a club source who sort to remain anonymous.

Chege, who was on the touchline in the stands on Sunday as his new side dispatched Kenya Navy in a league match at Moi Stadium, has set his bare minimum this season on guiding his new troops to the National Super League (NSL), which Mozzart Sport understand formed part of his contract clause at the Embu businessmen powered entity.

The fast-rising gaffer acknowledges that with great support and a friendly environment extended to the playing unit at the club, it will be easy for them to compete at the top with the league's big boys.

3K, who finished last season eight on 44 points which was their debut third-tier debut, also brought in a lot of reinforcement in their camp as they seek to build on the previous season's performance.
