The preliminary round kicks off on 19 September 2025, followed by the second preliminary round on 17 October.

Kenyan representatives, Kenya Police FC and Nairobi United will on Saturday learn their opponents in the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup, respectively, when the draws for both competitions are conducted in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Police FC secured a historic qualification to the CAF Champions League after clinching their first-ever FKF Premier League title last season. Nairobi United, meanwhile, earned their CAF Confederation Cup ticket after stunning Gor Mahia to win the Mozzart Bet Cup, marking their maiden appearance in continental football.

CAF has confirmed that the preliminary round draw will take place this Saturday, August 9, in Tanzania. It will be the first time the ceremony is being held in one of the CHAN 2024 co-host nations.

“Following the overwhelming success of the previous CAF Champions League season, leading to increased TV audiences, CAF is taking the preliminary draw to Tanzania’s capital, Dar es Salaam, for the first time. The draw will be conducted on Saturday, 09 August, at 13h00 local time (10h00 GMT) and will be streamed live on CAF’s YouTube channel and broadcast by partners,” read part of a statement from CAF.

The draw will be hosted at the Azam Media headquarters, one of CAF’s strategic partners in the region and the official broadcaster of the FKF Premier League.

“Azam Media, CAF’s strategic partner in the region, will host the draw in its studios, continuing the success of previous draws hosted in TV studios such as SuperSport and beIN Sports, both of whom have played a key role in growing CAF Interclub competitions,” the statement added.

CAF also noted the steady rise in East Africa's audience numbers for its interclub competitions, highlighting the region’s growing significance in continental football.

“East Africa continues to register tremendous growth in cumulative audiences for both the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup. Saturday’s event signals the start of what promises to be another exciting season of Africa’s premier club competitions.”

The preliminary round kicks off on 19 September 2025, followed by the second preliminary round on 17 October. The group stages begin on 21 November 2025, while the knockout rounds will commence on 13 March 2026.
