Due to their high coefficient ranking as a result of impressive performances in both the CAF Champions League (CAFCL) and CAF Confederation Cup (CAFCC), in recent years, Tanzania has had two representatives in both competitions.

This season, their two biggest clubs, reigning league champions Young Africans (Yanga) and Simba SC, are competing in the CAFCL, while in the CAFCC, they are represented by Azam FC and Singida Black Stars.

The four clubs were all impressive in their various competitions and all managed to qualify for the group stage after finishing top four in last season's Tanzania Premier League.

For their qualification, Tanzanian clubs earned a total of $2.2 million (approximately Tsh5.47 billion/Ksh283.8 million) from CAF, an amount which significantly boosts not only the teams’ fortunes but also the country's football at large.

Sworn enemies Yanga and Simba were the biggest beneficiaries after earning $700,000 (approximately Tsh1.73 billion/Ksh90.3 million) each, totalling $1.4 million (approximately Tsh3.5 billion).

Azam FC and Singida Black Stars, on their part, earned $400,000 (approximately Tsh991.2 million/Ksh51.6 million) each from their triumph in the CAF CC, totalling $800,000 (approximately Tsh1.98 billion).

More billions are still up for grabs for the Tanzanian clubs should they proceed to the knockout stages of both competitions.

A place in the quarter finals of the CAFCL will earn each of the Tanzanian teams $900,000 (approximately Tsh2.2 billion/Ksh116.1 million) while in the CAFCC, a quarter final place guarantees each team $550,000 (approximately Tsh1.36 billion/Ksh71 million).

Should they proceed to the semi-finals, each of the teams will earn $1.2 million (approximately Tsh2.97 billion/Ksh154.8 million) in the CAFCL and $750,000 (approximately Tsh1.86 billion/Ksh96.75 million) in CAFCC.

A place in the CAFCL final could earn each team $2 million (approximately Tsh4.96 billion/Ksh258 million) while a winners' medal would deliver $4 million (approximately Tsh9.9 billion/Ksh516million).

In the CAFCC, a place in the final, as was the case with Simba SC last season, will earn the Tanzanian clubs $1 million (approximately Tsh2.48 billion/Ksh129 million) and $2 million (approximately Tsh4.96 billion/Ksh258 million).
