The Ulinzi Stars captain, who is a multi-millionaire courtesy of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) took time off his busy schedule to visit Hope for Children Home in Oasis, Donholm on Friday, 12 September.
During his visit, Muchiri, who is one of the players who represented Kenya in the recently concluded 2024 CHAN that was co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania in August, donated foodstuffs to the children's home.
This gesture comes a few weeks after the former Tusker FC forward revealed that his biggest priority with the CHAN millions will be building a modest home for his mother, a statement that found soft landing in the hearts of netizens who lauded his intentions.
Kenya, who were making their debut in the 2024 CHAN edition, gave a good account of themselves by reaching the quarter finals, where they were eliminated by Madagascar on post-match penalties after a 1-1 draw in both regular and extra time.
This came after Harambee Stars had finished top of Group A, which included eventual winners Morocco, Angola, DR Congo and Zambia in what was termed as the ‘Group of Death.’
Kenya won against DR Congo, Morocco and Zambia and drew against Angola and Madagascar in the quarters.
For their efforts, Harambee Stars players and members of the technical bench reaped big from President William Ruto's performance-based financial incentive.
For each of the wins against DR Congo and Morocco, each Harambee Stars player earned Ksh1 million, Ksh2.5 million for the Zambia win, and Ksh500,000 for the Angola draw.
Additionally, members of the team were awarded a two-bedroomed house under the Affordable Housing Program worth Ksh2 million, where the government will pay half of the amount for them.
Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga also gave each player Ksh500,000 for the Zambia win that booked a home quarter-final slot, while FKF paid hundreds of thousands to each player for the days they were in camp.
It is these financial gains that Muchiri chose to uplift his mother's living standards and put a smile on the less fortunate kids.
For Muchiri, his CHAN exploits came with additional gain as he was promoted from a Private to a Corporal in the military where he serves with the Kenya Army.
