The tactician who doubles up as the Kenya U20 assistant coach views the development as a timely opportunity to sharpen his squad for the crucial final stretch of the season.

The league’s resumption, which had initially been pushed forward to accommodate the much-anticipated Mashemeji Derby, has once again been delayed.

This time due to Harambee Stars engaging in international friendlies against Chad on Saturday, 7 and Tuesday, 10 June during the FIFA window.

The league is now set to resume on Sunday, 15 June, with the final round of matches scheduled for Saturday, 21 June.

Bidco United, currently second from bottom on the league table, finds itself in a precarious position.

The Thika-based side sits just one point above bottom-placed Nairobi City Stars and trails the Promotion/Relegation Playoffs spot currently held by Murang'a Seal by a point too.

With only two matches remaining, the mathematics of survival are stark and Bidco must win both games to guarantee safety.

Victory in the final matches of the season will see Bidco move to 38 points and leapfrog to eleventh spot, devoid of other results from fellow relegation-troubled sides.

Speaking on the development, coach Akhulia welcomed the postponement as a blessing in disguise.

"It is a good thing for us; it's a positive move because now it gives us ample time to keep preparing and fine-tune the team to stage a remarkable fight to beat the drop,” said Akhulia.

“We have two challenging tasks against Kakamega Homeboyz and Sofapaka, and thus I feel it will be the perfect time for us to get all prepared because we need to win to be safe.”

The Oilers face a formidable end to their campaign, beginning with a home clash against in-form Kakamega Homeboyz at Thika Stadium.

They will then travel to Nairobi to take on 2009 Premier League champions Sofapaka in what could be a decisive fixture.
