Barca win again: Olmo and Pau remain registered

But La Liga will appeal again...

Javier Tebas has been waging a war against Real Madrid for months, and he hasn’t forgotten about Barcelona either. La Liga has accused the Catalan club of falsifying an audit report and claims that the registrations of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor must be annulled. The case reached the highest sporting authority in Spain, and the ruling favored Blaugrana. The Higher Sports Council (CSD) has made its decision: there will be no suspension for Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor. They remain registered. The La Liga Commission and Oversight Committee have no jurisdiction over this matter—plain and simple.

La Liga can conduct financial oversight and verify economic matters, but since it already granted the two Barcelona players their licenses, it cannot revoke them unless something has changed in the meantime. La Liga and the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) had their appeal dismissed as unfounded. Barcelona has won the first round, and the Higher Sports Council’s statement included the following:

"The licenses of both players remain valid. The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) acknowledged that there is no federative decision annulling the licenses, which was a condition set by the RFEF in its June 2022 ruling. The careers of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor have been protected since January 8, thanks to an emergency interim measure granted by the CSD to prevent irreparable harm until the proceedings are concluded."

Hansi Flick will be able to rely on Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor in the coming weeks, but this dispute is far from over. La Liga will appeal the decision of the highest sports authority, aiming to suspend the registration of the two players. Clearly, this is just the beginning—Joan Laporta and Javier Tebas will continue their back-and-forth, with more appeals sure to come.
