Bandi set to undergo scan on Friday

AFC Leopards utility player Lewis Bandi is set to undergo a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRIC) scan on Friday to ascertain the stretch of the injury picked while on duty with the national U23 team in Ethiopia.

Bandi picked an ankle injury on the eve of the semifinal clash against Burundi and hence skipped the tie and the third place playoff.

The youngster revealed that the pain on his right ankle was unbearable and will have to undergo the scan to establish how long he will stay on the sidelines.

“I am heading for a scan on Friday to determine the extent of the injury. I can walk but can’t sprint due to the excruciating pain in the affected area. I am anticipating for positive outcome as I am hoping to get back to the pitch soon,” he said.

Bandi who can be slotted in the midfield as well as a full back made it to the Emerging Stars courtesy of his splendid show he has had at the den since his elevation from the youth team.

The player who was part of the U20 team that reached to the semifinals of the CECAFA tournament held last year in Arusha has been a mainstay in the Leopards defence where coach Patrick Aussems has been using him as the defensive flanks.

The Eastleigh Boys High School alumnus says the experience he gained in Ethiopia will mould him to be a better player going forward.

“It was a good experience for the players who majority were making their debut in the U23 National team. I learnt a lot from the opponents we faced and the skills bequeathed by our coaches. I can’t wait for my return as I want to implement them on the pitch,” he added.
