He found the back of the net in their 2-1 defeat to league debutants Murang’a Seal on Wednesday at St. Sebastian Park.
Nairobi City Stars forward Robinson Asenwa is delighted to have scored his first goal for the club in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League.
Asenwa found the back of the net in their 2-1 defeat to league debutants Murang’a Seal on Wednesday at St. Sebastian Park.
Dennis Maruti and Titus Kapchanga were on target for Seal, who have been impressive since gaining promotion to the top tier.
The goal against Seal may have turned out to be a consolation, but it came with a world of meaning for Asenwa, who was only playing his fourth Kenyan Premiership match.
“It is exciting to score in the Kenyan Premier League. It’s a dream come true. It has stirred me within and has made me believe that anything is possible,” said the player during an interview with club media.
Asenwa said the goal is a sign of good things to come, as he hopes to find the back of the net on a regular basis and see his side get off the bottom half of the log.
“It was my opening goal, and deep down, I believe there are many more from me to come. It made me believe that I can do it and I will now work extra hard to top up," added the former Vapor Sport flyer
In the Murang'a Seal tie, Asenwa was introduced at the onset of the second half and went on to complete the game. He had previously made cameo appearances against Gor Mahia on his debut, Shabana, and KCB.
Asenwa joined Simba Wa Nairobi in the off-season transfer window, and despite being his maiden campaign at the top, he has managed to amass some minutes.
City Stars, who have won two matches this season, will be gunning for their third when they face twelve-time champions AFC Leopards this weekend.
