As odd as it may sound - Ligue 1 title race is as exciting as it gets

Although the PSG's dominance hasn't got us used to it, the situation in the French top tier is highly intriguing, as only two points separate the leading Saints and the sixth-placed Lens
What's the first thing that comes to mind when someone says Ligue 1? Paris Saint-Germain and their "iron-fist reign." The capital crew has won the last four editions and has been crowned champion 11 times in the previous 13 years.
However, this season may be different...
Even though the Parisians haven't got us used to any unpredictability - most often, the title race would be over even before it started, all thanks to PSG's power over their rivals - their occasional struggles have made the current Ligue 1 campaign as interesting as it gets.
Namely, despite winning the treble last season and being the European champions, the Saints won "only" six of their ten league games, putting their top spot at risk. Moreover, PSG are still in the leading position, but only two points separate them from the sixth-placed Lens at the moment!

Had Olympique Marseille not conceded a 96th-minute leveller against the relegation-strugglers Angers three days ago, L'OM would have been tied with the Saints at the top. This way, Luis Enrique's crew's first followers are Monaco, one point behind.
Roberto De Zerbi's men are third thanks to goal difference, though Strasbourg, Lyon, and Lens also have 19 points and sit two points behind the leaders.
In today's schedule, the Parisians will host Nice (19.00), Monaco will face Paris FC at home (21.00), while Marseille lock horns with Auxerre on the road (23.05). As for the rest of the Ligue 1 top teams, Lens and Lyon, they'll face Lorient and Brest, respectively, tomorrow.
No one saw it coming, that's for sure, but the French top flight may be on its way to reclaiming past glory.
