Dani Ceballos, David Luiz, Martin Odegaard and Mat Ryan all left the club for different reasons

Dani Ceballos, David Luiz, Martin Odegaard and Mat Ryan have officially departed Arsenal, the North London club officially confirmed. The first three players were first team regulars, but departed the club for different reasons. While Gunners would love to keep Odegaard and Ceballos, they both came on loan from Real Madrid and are coming back to Spain. David Luiz is heading back to his native Brazil, as he informed the club of his decision to leave in May, while Mat Ryan was also brought on loan from Brighton as a cover for Leno, and his mission is completed.

"We thank all the above players for their contributions to the club during the periods of their permanent or loan contracts with us. You will always be part of the Arsenal family and we wish you all the best of health, happiness and success in your futures“ reads the statement.

The Gunners and their sports director Edu were already plotting a transfer for Odegaard, but then Ancelotti was appointed as Real boss, and it will be a waiting game now. The only sure thing is that the Italian will trim the squad, which means some players will be available for sale, but it’s not sure yet which one and for how much money.

Ancelotti will do his assessments of players during the EURO 2022 and decide if Ceballos or Odegaard have a future in Madrid. Arsenal could attempt to re-sign both players but would have to pay a significant fee given they are both under contract with Real until 2023. Nobody knows how much Ceballos is worth (he played on loan for two consecutive season), but Spanish media found out that the minimum price for Odegaard would be 8 billion Ksh, which forced Edu to start looking at the cheaper option, like Emi Buendia from Norwich ( minimum 4 billion).

David Luiz is another player who Gunners wanted to keep on a one year deal, but the Brazilian decided that his time in Europe is up, and informed the club of his intentions. After two years, 73 games, four goals, and three red cards, Arsenal captain David Luiz left the Emirates stadium with a farewell speech, and few tears were almost shred.

I’ve just played football, and continued to play football because I really love football, that’s why. So enjoy this moment of our lives. One day it’s going to finish, but try to finish it at the high level – and the high level is giving everything every day and enjoy and share moments together” said Luiz to his team mates.
