In a growing list of documentaries offering a glimpse into the private lives of famous footballers, Bukayo Saka is the latest to join the trend

Arsenal star Bukayo Saka is about to give supporters unprecedented access to his journey, with a brand-new Disney+ documentary set to shine a light on the people and experiences that have shaped his rise to the top of the game.

Arriving shortly after Arsenal ended their long wait for a Premier League crown, the documentary, titled 'Bukayo Saka: The Time is Now', explores the winger's path from academy prospect to one of football's biggest names.

The production also includes appearances from club great Thierry Henry and those closest to Saka, highlighting the influence they have had throughout his career.

The film is directed by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Robert Alexander, who spent significant time following Saka and documenting both his professional and personal life.

Since making his breakthrough into Arsenal's first team in 2019, the England international has become one of the club's defining figures, amassing more than 300 appearances and over 80 goals in all competitions.

Rather than focusing solely on trophies and achievements, the documentary places particular emphasis on the support network that has stood beside Saka through moments of triumph and disappointment.

His career has already delivered major success, including domestic silverware and, most recently, a crucial role in Arsenal's first league title in more than two decades. However, it has also included difficult periods, none more significant than the aftermath of Euro 2020.

After the abuse he suffered following his penalty miss in the tournament final, Thierry Henry was among those who immediately rallied around the young winger and offered encouragement during one of the toughest moments of his career.

Reflecting on the project, Saka explained: “This film has given me the chance to tell my story in a way I never have before. People see the goals and the matches, but they don’t see what it takes behind the scenes, and part of that is my support system, the WhatsApp messages from the people who were there long before any of this who have believed in me every step of the way.”

The documentary also captures the close relationship between Saka and Henry, with Alexander spending several days filming the pair together in London.

Saka heads into the release after another demanding campaign, featuring in 49 matches while contributing 11 goals and nine assists. Although Arsenal celebrated domestic glory, the season ultimately ended with disappointment on the European stage after a penalty-shootout defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final.

Fans will be able to watch the documentary when it premieres on June 5. Beyond that, Saka's attention will quickly turn toward the 2026 World Cup, where he will look to carry his outstanding club form onto the international stage and help England challenge for football's biggest prize.
