The Gunners' vice-captain signed a new five-year deal with the North London side, becoming the top-paid player on the team

Announced a month ago, and now officially confirmed: Bukayo Saka extended his deal with Arsenal until 2031, becoming the highest-paid Gunners' player with a salary of £300,000 per week. Including bonuses, the new contract moves the popular "Starboy" to the second place on the list of the top-paid players in the club's history, right behind Mesut Ozil!

From time to time, the media in England and Spain have been speculating about Saka's potential move to Manchester City or Real Madrid, but those rumours have now ended, as the Gunners' vice-captain is set to spend his best playing years at his boyhood club. Moreover, there is no release clause, which sends a clear message that the winger is priceless for the North London side.

Apart from tying a key player, the conditions Arsenal granted Saka are also pretty symbolic. The 24-year-old isn't only a global football superstar, but also the first Gunners' academy player since Ashley Cole to achieve that status and the heart and soul of Mikel Arteta's crew.

Given that he has recently had occasional injury issues, the new deal reportedly states that the club will invest heavily in medical staff, with a focus on recovery, all to help Saka avoid injuries and maintain his well-being.

At the same time, the North London side continued the "extension trend", as the key centre-backs Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba, as well as the two prospects Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly, all signed new contracts with the club during the previous year.
