Speaking on the evening of Friday, 10 October, shortly after Ingwe’s elimination from the ODM@20 Tournament in Mombasa, Ambani dismissed reports of division within the management and reaffirmed his focus on rebuilding the club’s integrity and stability.
His remarks came in response to a viral social media post accusing the current administration of mismanagement and infighting, including claims of tension between the club’s CEO, Ronald Namai, and Secretary General Isaac Mulindi.
The post, which spread quickly among Leopards supporters, further alleged that “both Ambanis”, referring to the chairman and his brother, head coach Fred Ambani, were tearing the club apart instead of rebuilding it, and even suggested that an impeachment process was being planned.
In a swift rebuttal, Boniface Ambani dismissed the allegations as part of a smear campaign by individuals aggrieved by his administration’s efforts to stop financial misuse at the club.
"This is what happens when all taps have been closed… they’ll fight back. In God I trust,” Ambani said, implying that his push for accountability had angered those previously benefiting from mismanagement.
He clarified that there is no rift between the Secretary General and the CEO, insisting that the leadership remains united.
“The fight to break down the current office has failed. We decided to unite and work for the club,” he stated.
Ambani’s leadership has faced increased scrutiny in recent weeks, particularly during the ODM@20 Tournament, where tension within the team appeared to spill into public glare.
Despite the criticism, the chairman remains defiant, maintaining that his administration will not bow to political or personal interests seeking to derail the club’s rebuilding agenda.
Away from the boardroom drama, AFC Leopards continue to navigate a turbulent start to the new FKF Premier League season.
The 1998 champions are still chasing their first win after four rounds, having managed only two draws so far, a slow start that mirrors the broader challenges facing the club on and off the pitch.
