Kimeli, Nguriatukel victorious in Lisbon marathon as Kenyans dominate

Faith Kiprotich and Mosinet Geremew won the half marathon races

Wisley Kimeli and Rael Nguriatukel are the winners of the men's and women's marathon in Lisbon, respectively, leading an all-Kenyan podium in the Portuguese coastal city.

Kimeli completed the course in 2:08:33, a personal best (PB) followed by compatriots Emanuel Kemboi (2:09:10) and Edwin Tuitoek (2:09:48) who also registered an improved time.

In the women's race, Nguriatukel clocked 2:27:11 for victory, finishing more than three minutes ahead of second-placed Cynthia Kosgei (2:30.36), with the podium completed by Sheila Chebet (2:33.48) in a PB as well.

In the Lisbon half-marathon, Ethiopian Mosinet Geremew came first in 1:03.09, joined on the podium by Kenyan Peter Kipsirat (1:03.16) and Ugandan Victor Kwemboi (1:03.23).

In the women's event, Faith Kiprotich from Kenya won in 1:10.33, as compatriot Faith Chepkoech was just four seconds behind in second. Ethiopian Alem Nigus finished in third place in 1:10.46.
