This is after the Qatar Olympic Committee availed 5,000 tickets for the Kenyan community for the event, the third in the 2025 Wanda Diamond League series.

Kenyan athletes have, in the recent past, enjoyed solid support from their counterparts living and working in the Middle Eastern country during the previous editions of the Diamond League leg.

The national football team, Harambee Stars, was also greeted with a warm welcome and enjoyed strong fan support when they played against Qatar in an international friendly match in September 2023.

Paris Olympic Games 3000m silver medalist Faith Cherotich, Commonwealth Games 800m champion Wycliffe Kinyamal, and Olympic and World Indoor finalist Susan Ejore are some of the Kenyan athletes set to compete on Friday.

Sprint stars Letsile Tebogo and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce are the big names that have signed up for the event.

John Ngurugwe, the head of Kenyans living in Qatar, told Mozzart Sport that he was in possession of the tickets, which will be distributed from 2 pm local time.

Organisers of the event have granted the Kenyan community top priority, as they will access the facility through gates two, three and four.

"I already have 5,000 tickets for the Kenyan community with me. We are anticipating at least 4,000 Kenyans to turn up at the facility," Ngurugwe told Mozzart Sport in a telephone interview.

Kenyans, who will miss out on the freebies, will part with at least 30 Qatari Riyals (Ksh1,000 on current exchange rates) for regular tickets at the selling points.

"There will be tickets at the booths around the stadium for those wishing to buy," added Ngurugwe, who has been in charge of the Kenyan community for the last eight years.

Meanwhile, the Ethiopian community will use gates six and seven, with other communities using gate five.

Holders of the VIP bronze tickets will access through gate one, with VIP Silver going through gate six.
