The finals will be hosted in Weltklasse Zurich, Switzerland, from Wednesday, 27 to Thursday, 28 August.

In a statement, the sprint sensation revealed he has been struggling with unforeseen injuries, forcing him to withdraw from the season-ending competition.

“Due to recent hip, iliopsoas, and gluteal pain experienced over the past few weeks, I regret to inform you that I will be unable to participate in the Diamond League Finals 2025.

I am optimistic about my recovery and anticipate being fully fit for Tokyo,” Omanyala said.

The sprinter began his season with a 100m victory at the Athletics Kenya meet in Thika before placing third at the ASA Grand Prix I in 10.22 seconds.

He bounced back strongly with a 10.08 win in the second leg.

Omanyala’s standout performances this year include a 10.02-second dash at the Uganda Trials, victory with Team Kenya in the 4×100m relay, and a 10.00-second run for second place at the Botswana Grand Prix.

On the Diamond League stage, he claimed second place in Xiamen and third in Rome with a time of 10.01 seconds.

He also played a crucial role in Kenya’s historic 4×100m relay qualification for the World Championships at the World Relays in Guangzhou, China.

Away from the 100m, Omanyala made headlines at the Atlanta City Games, where he broke both the national and African records in the rarely run 150m event with a blazing 14.70-second performance.

At the National Athletics Trials, he showcased his versatility by winning the 100m in 10.08 before finishing second in the 200m behind Zablon Ekwam. However, his season-long mission to break the sub-10 barrier again has been met with near misses.

At the Gyulai István Memorial, he finished eighth in 10.26 seconds as Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson won in 9.95.

His struggles continued at the Brussels Diamond League, where he placed seventh in 10.49 seconds.
