Africa’s fastest man added another reward to his ever-growing list of accolades on Wednesday, 16 July, when he was handed a brand new Toyota Hilux at a brief handover ceremony held at the Toyota Kenya showroom along Uhuru Highway in Nairobi.

From the photos, it is not clear which exact model of Hilux it is, but it appears to be from the 8th generation, specifically a facelifted model from around 2021 to 2023, which costs between Ksh5.5 and Ksh8 million, depending on the specific model and features.

The vehicle handover is part of Omanyala’s ongoing ambassadorial partnership with Toyota, which began in 2023. The partnership celebrates performance, consistency, and resilience, qualities the African 100m record holder continues to embody both on and off the track.

Clad in black athletic gear, white sneakers, and a backwards-facing cap, Omanyala was all smiles as he received the dummy keys, standing proudly in front of a dark grey Hilux bearing the customised number plate "OMANYALA."

The red carpet moment was surrounded by bold Toyota branding and dealership fanfare.

The 2025 season has seen Omanyala stay busy and competitive, opening his campaign with a 100m win at the Athletics Kenya meet in Thika, then placing third (10.22) at the ASA Grand Prix I in South Africa before bouncing back with a 10.08 win at the second leg.

He maintained top form at the Uganda National Trials, running 10.02 in the 100m and helping Kenya secure a thrilling 4×100m relay win, before clocking 10.00 for second place at the Botswana Grand Prix.

Omanyala also flew the Kenyan flag at multiple Diamond League meets, placing second in Xiamen (10.13), seventh in Shanghai (10.25), and third in Rome (10.01), narrowly missing the elusive sub-10 mark he continues to chase this season.

He made history at the World Relays in Guangzhou, where he helped Kenya qualify for the 4×100m relay at the World Championships for the first time in decades.

He also set new Kenyan and African records in the 150m with a 14.70-second dash at the Atlanta City Games.

At the recent National Athletics Trials, Omanyala once again dominated the 100m final in 10.08 seconds, before settling for second in the 200m (20.53) behind Zablon Ekwam.

Despite coming close, his sub-10 goal this season remains unfinished business.
