Oilers played their first ever Kenya Cup final last season.
Following an impressive season in the Kenya Cup, finishing as runners up, Menengai Oilers head coach Gibson Weru admitted that he has his work cut out in order to win the title.
The Nakuru-based side pulled a massive upset in the semi-finals last season beating former champions KCB RFC to play in their maiden Kenya Cup final.

Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Weru was coy about going one better to land the title as he admitted that there is a lot of work to be done during pre-season.
“I cannot answer that now, a lot of work needs to be done in pre-season, a lot of physical work, tactical work, skill work and I can only answer that once we are done with the preparations phase.
I think we did extremely well. We cannot take anything for granted, the fact that we played in a final does not even guarantee playing in the semis next season,” said Weru.
Oilers however could not replicate their blistering form in the Enterprise Cup after suffering defeat in the Round of 16 at the hands of Impala Saracens.

Weru added that should they be able to execute their pre-season plans to perfection they stand a chance of joining the list of Kenya Cup winners.
“If we are able to do our work well we should be in a position to win, the work that needs to be done is clear, we know the areas that we need to improve.
We will look at players that need to be improved individually, look at where we need to strengthen the squad and if we plan well, we should be able to finish on a high,” added Weru.
