The Kenya Morans are set to return to continental action as the 2025 Africa Men’s 7s tournament gets underway on Saturday, 21, to Sunday, 22 June at the Labourdonnais Sports Club in Mauritius.
The tournament will once again serve as a platform for Kenya’s development side to test and sharpen emerging talent, while chasing a stronger finish than last year’s sixth-place result.

They are placed in Pool A and face a tough group that includes defending champions Uganda, West African side Ivory Coast, and returning outfit Ghana.
Uganda, the tournament's top seeds, will aim to retain the title they won in dominant fashion in 2024, while the Morans are looking to prove their progress in nurturing future Shujaa stars.
This year’s edition carries added significance, with the top two teams earning automatic qualification to the 2026 Rugby World Cup Sevens.
Furthermore, aside from Kenya and South Africa, the top two finishers will be promoted to the HSBC SVNS Division 3, providing more exposure on the global stage.
The Morans will open their campaign against Ivory Coast at 9:28 a.m. on Saturday, then face Ghana at 12:12 p.m., before wrapping up day one with a highly anticipated clash against Uganda at 3:18 p.m.
The squad named for the tournament blends experienced names with fresh faces.
Nakuru RFC’s Chrissant Ojwang makes a long-awaited return after being sidelined for nearly six months with a leg injury sustained during the 2024 Dubai 7s.
He will serve as assistant captain under George Ooro, offering leadership and composure to a youthful group.
Morans head coach Louis Kisia has handed debuts to four exciting prospects: Felix Okoth, Javan Otieno, Matoka Matoka and Philip Okeyo.
The latter, who made a name for himself during the 2024 Barthes Cup and the World Rugby U20 Trophy in Scotland, is the younger brother of Shujaa standout John Okoth.
The squad also features Menengai Oilers' Dennis Abukuse, who was ever-present for Shujaa in the just-concluded HSBC World Rugby 7s Series, and Kabras RFC’s Lameck Ambetsa, who returns to the sevens scene after competing at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
