The talented playmaker has his sights firmly set on a Kenya Sevens call-up after recovering from a shoulder injury that sidelined him earlier this year.

Shikoli, who has been instrumental in Strathmore Leos’ fine run in the National Sevens Circuit, has featured prominently in a dream season that has seen the team finish runners-up at the Driftwood 7s, defend their Prinsloo 7s crown, clinch the Embu 7s title, and secure bronze at the Christie 7s.

His journey back to form has been anything but easy.

On Saturday, 22 February, he suffered a shoulder injury during a Kenya Cup clash against Nakuru RFC, a match the students narrowly won 23–22.

The setback required surgery and a lengthy spell of physiotherapy before he could return to competitive rugby.

“I’ve just come back from injury, and that return has really fueled my motivation to push harder towards my goals,” Shikoli told Mozzart Sport.

“The toughest part was having to travel around to see different physios, but Malik (Kenya Sevens’ physiotherapist) was a huge help throughout that phase.

I also owe a lot to our physio, my girlfriend, my sister, and my teammates, who stood by me and kept me going during recovery,” he continued.

Now fully fit, Shikoli is determined to pick up where he left off, setting his sights on the Kenya Sevens setup and a spot in the team for the 2026 HSBC SVNS Series.

“Now that I’ve been handed another chance, I want to make the most of every moment on the pitch and give everything I can to help my team chase victory.

This season, my focus is to work even harder and earn a Kenya 7s call-up,” he averred.

Shikoli’s return could not have come at a better time for Strathmore Leos as they currently sit second on the circuit's log with 80 points, just two points shy of table toppers KCB Rugby.
