The game kicks off at 1349EAT with Kenya out of main cup contention.
A disappointing Shujaa will take on France in their last Pool D encounter at the inaugural Malaga 7s HSBC World Rugby Series Circuit as the team licks their wounds following poor performances that ensured they failed to make it out of the Pool and have consequently been knocked out of main cup contention.
In their first outing of the New Year 2022 and the third of the season, the Innocent ‘Namcos’ Simiyu-coached side could not back up their main cup quarter-final appearance in the first two outings as costly schoolboy and avoidable errors ended up ensuring the team lost their opening match to Canada and their second game against Wales.
Against Canada in the opening match, with the scores at 17-19, a poor lineout from Johnstone Olindi with less than thirty seconds to go cost the team as the Canadians regained easy possession that allowed them to run down the clock and bring the game to an end.
A similar scenario would play out in the game against Wales as Kenya were penalized for a knock-on with 25 seconds to go when they were chasing the game at 19-14.
Now placed last in Pool D on two points following the two defeats, the team has no chance whatsoever of making it out of the group even if they win as only two teams make it to the quarter-finals.
The team will play the French side at 1349 EAT before then taking part in the placement ties. France have won their opening two games in emphatic 38-10 and 38-5 victories over Wales and Canada respectively.
A 19-14 defeat to Wales sees @KenyaSevens miss out on a cup quarterfinal slot in Malaga.
