Shujaa and Kenya Morans Squad for Safari 7s unveiled

The national rugby 7s head coach Innocent 'Namcos' Simiyu has named his 12-man squad that is set to battle for honours in the upcoming Safari Sevens Tournament slated for this weekend 30-31 October at Nayo National Stadium.

With Shujaa handed the top seed in the tournament making its comeback in the country after a one-year absence, expectations are high that the national team should be front runners to lift the Robin Hill Trophy from defending champions Kenya Morans who lifted the last edition in 2019.

In the squad named, official Shujaa captain Nelson Oyoo and back Jeff Oluoch were not included in the team going to participate this year.

In Oyoo's absence, Shujaa will be captained by Herman Humwa who leads a host of Kenya Sevens players including Bush Mwale, Alvin Otieno, Johnstone Olindi, Levy Amunga, Alvin Marube and Timothy Mmasi.

On the other hand, defending champions Morans have Augustine Lugonzo and Derrick Mayar who have both featured for Kenya on the Sevens World Series in their squad.

For the national under 20 side, Chipu 7s, Gabriel Ayimba, son of fallen Kenya Sevens legend and former head coach Benjamin Ayimba, has been included in their squad.
