Safari 7s fixtures released

Fixtures for the long-awaited Safari Sevens Tournament have finally been announced ahead of the rugby showdown that takes centre stage this weekend, October 30-31 at the Nyayo National Stadium.

Following a one-year absence of the tournament owing to the coronavirus pandemic last year, the competition makes a comeback and is going to feature twelve teams from the men’s side and five teams from the women’s side in the two-day event.

In the tournament, the men’s national team Shujaa, Morans, KCB and the national U20 side Chipu, will represent the country.

Shujaa, who are the top-seeded side, will get their campaign underway against Stallion 7s Nigeria at 9.40 AM before playing Germany at 12.30 PM in their second group game. Their final pool game will be against African rivals, Zimbabwe at 3.20 PM EAT.

Defending champions, The Morans, will run out on the field for the first time at 10.40 AM to take on neighbours Uganda. Their second game will be against KCB Rugby before finishing their day one assignment against Spain at 4.40 PM.

Shujaa seeded top for Safari Sevens

On the women’s side, Kenya will be represented by Kenya Lionesses and Lionesses II. Lionesses’ first match will be against Lioness II at 9.00 am. They will then square it off against Titans Women's Academy at 11.30 am EAT.
