The event is scheduled for the Nyayo National Stadium from Saturday 30 to Sunday 31 October with 12 men’s teams and five women’s teams are set to battle for the Robin Cahill trophy awarded to the cup final winners.
Fans were handed a green light to return back to the stadia after consultations from the Ministry of Sports and Health to lift the ban of spectators in sporting events.
Two high profile teams have already confirmed participation in the event including core World Rugby Sevens side Spain and 2019 Rugby Europe 7s Grand Prix champions Germany who headline the 2021 event alongside the country’s national 7s team, Shujaa.

Germany will be making a return to the tournament since 2014 when they clinched Bowl after beating the Cell C Sharks.
KRU chairman Oduor Gangla noted that he is eager to watch Shujaa after finishing third in the HSBC World Sevens Series hosted in Canada.
“We are also looking forward to seeing Shujaa playing, they had a good outing in Canada and the tournament is an excellent opportunity to see the next crop of stars come through the ranks. We are very confident about having an excellent event,” he said.
