The KRU Championship and Nationwide Leagues will now start on 4 December 2021.
The Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) Championship and the Nationwide Rugby League will not start this weekend as was initially expected.
While top flight rugby action in the Kenya Cup is set to resume in the country this Saturday 27 November 2021, the second and third tier rugby leagues will have to do without action for a bit longer as their commencement dates have been pushed by a further week to December 4.
Initially, all the three rugby leagues were supposed to all start at the same time but late changes by KRU have seen the postponement to the new rugby season as the rugby body released fixtures for the new 2021/2022 season.

In the unprecedented 2021 season played under the novel COVID-19 pandemic, it is only the Kenya Cup that was played as KRU called off the other leagues. However going into the new season, normalcy will once again be restored with women’s rugby also set to take place concurrently.
In the Kenya Cup, Homeboyz will be making a return to the league after a one year hiatus which will see the top flight involve twelve teams once again.
