Shujaa secured their semifinal spot after a thrilling 27-12 comeback victory over Uganda
Shujaa will take on it's feeder team, Morans, in the highly-anticipated semifinal clash of the Safari 7s on Sunday at Machakos Stadium.
The other semifinal matchup features Shogun going up against Zimbabwe.
Shujaa secured their semifinal spot after a thrilling 27-12 comeback victory over Uganda.
Although Shujaa swept their four group-stage matches, they initially fell behind when Andrew Odhiambo, a Kenyan forward playing in Uganda, scored a corner try for a 5-0 lead.
Shujaa quickly responded, levelling the score as William Mwanji powered over on the left wing to make it 5-5.
Benson Salem then spotted a gap, sprinting down the outside to push Shujaa ahead at 10-5 by halftime.
Salem added another try in the second half, bursting through the centre for 40 meters, though he missed the conversion.
Samuel Asati extended the lead with a try under the posts, converted by Dennis Abukuse.
While Uganda’s Daniel Otim managed to score, Abukuse sealed the win with a final try, cementing Shujaa's 27-12 victory.
The Morans, on the other hand, narrowly defeated Lions Rugby 19-17.
Lions struck first through Obat Kuke, but Morans answered with a series of offloads leading to Brian Ondego’s converted try, giving them a 7-5 advantage.
Harmony Wamalwa added a second converted try, pushing the lead to 14-5. Lions fought back, as Fletcher Carpenter’s try reduced the gap to 14-10.
Ondego’s second try extended Morans’ lead to 19-10, but a late try from Israel Kalumba brought Lions within two points before the final whistle.
Shogun’s dominant performance
Shogun Rugby kept their semifinal hopes alive with a 31-14 win over Kenya Varsity Select.
Cole Swannack opened the scoring with a converted try, and Alexandre Odinga quickly added another, taking the score to 12-0.
After consultation with the assistant referee, Angel Bozal scored a corner try, but Varsity Select responded through Victor Omupere just before halftime.
Varsity struck first in the second half with Fidel Chimwani’s try, narrowing the score to 17-14.
However, Shogun regained control as Bozal’s break and a try by Noah Canepa after the hooter sealed the 31-14 victory.
Zimbabwe survives Harlequins’ challenge
Zimbabwe’s Cheetahs overcame a halftime deficit to defeat Kenya Harlequins.
Quins led 10-7 at the break with tries from Leeon Nyang and Charles Kinyajui, countering an early try from Zimbabwe’s Trevo Gurwe.
In the second half, Zimbabwe seized control with Moyo Kholwani scoring off Gurwe’s offload.
Tapiwa Malenga extended the lead to 17-10, and Carlos Matematema’s try in the corner cemented Zimbabwe’s win.
