
RWC 7s Qualifiers: Michael Wokorach to lead team as Uganda Cranes name 14 man squad

Michael Wokorach will captain the Uganda Cranes national 7s rugby team when the Rugby Africa 7s Cup takes place next weekend 23-24 April 2022 in Kampala, Uganda.
This is after the Uganda Rugby Sevens national team management named a 14 man squad that will be in camp ahead of the tournament which will also double up as a qualifying event to the 2022 Rugby World Cup Sevens tourney set for South Africa later in September and the 2022 Commonwealth Games set for Birmingham in England.

Captain Wokorach will be assisted by Ian Munyani in the team that has one foreign based player in Philip Wokorach who plies his trade for ASBC rugby in France.
Black Pirates have the largest representation in the team as six of their players have been called up to the squad – Kelvin Balaggade, Timothy Kisiga, William Nkore, Desire Ayera, Alex Aturinda and Isaac Massanganzira.
The country’s Nation Sevens champions KOBs have three in Munyani, Adrian Kasito and Karim Arinaitwe while Heathens have Michael Wokorach, Aaron Ofoyrworth, Norbert Okeny and Claude Otema on the team.
In the tournament, 14 African nations will fight for the three available tickets to the World Cup and two to the Commonwealth Games.
Kenya will fight for the three available slots alongside hosts Uganda, Tunisia, Namibia, Burundi, Zimbabwe, Senegal, Zambia, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Mauritius, Cameroon, Madagascar and Burkina Faso.
All the podium finishers will earn tickets to the global event scheduled for September in Cape Town, South Africa.
