The spotlight will shine brightest on the RFUEA Grounds, where a thrilling double header awaits.

Kenya Harlequin will take on newly-promoted Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) at 2:30 pm, paving the way for a later clash between Impala RFC and Menengai Oilers.

Daystar Falcons vs Kabras RFC

Defending champions Kabras RFC travel to Daystar University Grounds to face Kenya Cup debutants Daystar Falcons.

The Falcons are still reeling from a bruising 76–16 loss to Menengai Oilers in their opening match. With the Sugarmen up next, the challenge only gets tougher. A Kabras win seems the likely outcome, but the Falcons will be desperate to keep the scoreline respectable.

Kabras, meanwhile, kicked off their title defense with a commanding 67–6 victory over neighbours MMUST. They will be keen to keep their momentum as they chase back-to-back titles.

Kisumu RFC vs KCB Rugby

KCB Rugby make the long journey to Kisumu for a clash at the Mamboleo Showground. Their last encounter, exactly a year ago, ended in a resounding 82–3 win for the Bankers.

This weekend, however, the Lakeside outfit may not be such easy prey.

Kisumu are now under the guidance of Howard Okwemba, who returns to the club he led to promotion back in 2018.

His most recent coaching stint was with South Coast Pirates in the 2019/20 season. With him back at the helm, a repeat of last year’s scoreline looks unlikely.

Kenya Harlequin vs MMUST Rugby

The opening match of the RFUEA double header pits Quins against MMUST.

Quins edged Nakuru RFC 20–15 last weekend despite being written off after losing several key players. Head coach Patrice Agunda appears to be laying a solid foundation for a revitalized season.

MMUST, however, arrive wounded after a heavy defeat to Kabras. They will be desperate to collect their first points of the season, making this an intriguing and unpredictable contest.

Nakuru RFC vs KU Blak Blad

Both sides come into this match on the back of opening-day losses. Nakuru, coached by former Kenya 7s star Oscar Ouma, narrowly fell to Quins, while Blak Blad were outclassed by Strathmore Leos.

The last meeting between the two ended 29–11 in favor of Nakuru. Recent history suggests another tight affair: in their last 10 meetings, Nakuru have five wins, Blad have three, and two ended in draws.

Nakuru also lead on aggregate points (209–171). With home advantage on their side, this one has all the makings of a standout clash.

Strathmore Leos vs Nondies RFC

This fixture is a rematch of the Impala Floodlights quarterfinals, which Nondies won 29–21. But the Leos, buoyed by home advantage and a wave of youthful talent, will be out for revenge.

Coach Willis Ojal previously stated that their Floodies campaign aimed to expose young players to high-pressure matches, a move that paid off last weekend when many of those youngsters starred in their win over Blak Blad.

Nondies, meanwhile, are enjoying a strong run of form that dates back to the Floodies. Fresh from a victory over Kisumu RFC, the Red Shirts look like a team on a mission. A win against the stubborn Leos would further underline their resurgence.

Impala RFC vs Menengai Oilers

Impala host Oilers in the second instalment of the RFUEA double header. The Gazelles are coming off a devastating 87–5 loss to KCB, and their camp has been unsettled after the departure of head coach Louis Kisia and assistant coach Jackson Kalonje.

Kalonje joined Impala last season and, alongside Kisia, guided the club to their first Floodlit final since 2018 and ensured they survived relegation.

His departure marks the end of a successful partnership that began at Strathmore Leos, where the duo led the team to Kenya Cup promotion and two semi-finals.

Oilers, meanwhile, will be eager to replicate their week-one fireworks after demolishing the Daystar Falcons 76–16.
