Kenya Sevens head coach Kevin Wambua has unveiled his squad for the 2026 SVNS season, with the biggest headline being the return of Menengai Oilers star John Okoth after nearly a year out.

Okoth suffered a tibia fracture during the 2024 Kabeberi 7s on 17 August, an injury that sidelined him for months and forced him to miss major tournaments, including the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.

Following an extensive rehabilitation period, he made his competitive comeback in March 2025 during Menengai Oilers’ Enterprise Cup semifinal win over Nondies, before helping the club secure third place in the National 7s Circuit with 94 points from six legs.

His rise continued at the Safari 7s, where he featured for Kenya Morans, and later captained the side to a flawless Zambezi Challenge 7s campaign in Zimbabwe, a tournament in which the Morans did not concede a single try.

Together with fellow senior players: Brian Mutua and Elvis Olukusi, Okoth helped guide a youthful Morans team that featured nine rookies, reaffirming his leadership and readiness for a full international return.

The travelling unit features a strong mix of seasoned and upcoming talent.

The team includes: Kevin Wekesa, Samuel Asati, Brian Tanga, Brian Mutua, Jackson Siketi, Rayvon Ambale, Vincent Onyala, Samuel Mosiori, George Ooro, Floyd Wabwire, Festus Shiasi, Elvis Olukusi, John Okoth, Daniel Kipchirchir, Dennis Abukuse, Antony Omondi, Eugene Ojiambo, Nygel Pettersan, Gabriel Ayimba, Victor Ochieng, Christant Ojwang, Felix Odhiambo, Clinton Amukachi, Arnold Agonda, and David Nyangige, forming a well-rounded group tasked with navigating the demanding SVNS calendar.

The team will be guided by Wambua, assisted by Louis Kisia, with Andrew Amonde handling Strength and Conditioning.

Lamech Bokongo will serve as the physiotherapist, while Erick Ogweno and Morgan Ngumbi takes up the roles of team manager and assistant team manager respectively.
