The Kenya Chipu scrum half travelled down south back in May to join the prestigious Stellenbosch Academy of Sport.

Kenya U20 youngster Dewald Lucky, who plies his trade at top tier rugby outfit Kenya Harlequin, is set to jet back in the country this month after a brief stay in South Africa.

Back in May, Mozzart Sport exclusively revealed that the scrum half had traveled down south after landing a scholarship program at South Africa's prestigious Stellenbosch Academy of Sport (SAS) which is the home of the country’s national 7s side, the Blitzboks.

Since then, the player admitted to being exposed to a very ideal rugby atmosphere that has seen him develop his skills which he hopes to use when he links up once again with his team ahead of the 2022/2023 Kenya Cup campaign.

“My time in South Africa is coming to an end soon. I went to develop and gather new skills to add to my game which I believe will give me more confidence when I am playing the game. I should be travelling back home sometime in August,” the player told Mozzart Sport.

SAS Rugby offers programs that expose players to High Performance sport and gives them the opportunity to become professional rugby players.

The SAS opened in 2012 and is a destination for sportsmen and women across many sport codes from all over the world.

Other than being the home of the Springboks Sevens, U/20s and the Western Province Rugby Institute, it is also the preferred choice for the Springbok senior side for holding camps.

It is an all-inclusive facility that houses a gymnasium, medical-and rehabilitation facilities, dining hall as well as accommodation and meeting rooms.
