
President Uhuru chips in Ayimba's contribution as funds appeal continues

The former Shujaa head coach is currently in critical condition and family is appealing for funds to help clear the bill
A financial appeal to settle the medical bill of former Kenya Sevens head coach Benjamin Ayimba have today received massive boost after Nairobi senator Johnson Sakaja revealed that President Uhuru Kenyatta made a contribution of one million.
Ayimba’s family had yesterday, Friday, made an appeal for financial help to help settle the head coach’s bill that stood at KSh. 2 million. Taking to his Twitter handle on social media, the senator, who is leading the funds drive, announced the President’s contribution and urged other notable leaders in the country to chip in.

Ayimba, who is currently receiving treatment at a Nairobi hospital, is in critical condition after he was admitted with celebral malaria three weeks ago. The former player turned coach is a celebrated icon in the rugby sphere after he successfully led Shujaa to 30-7 win over Fiji in the finals to see Kenya win her maiden tournament in a world series event in Singapore back in 2015.
Ayimba, who is also a former Kenya Sevens and 15s captain, also guided Kenya to its first ever World Series Cup final in Adelaide, Australia back in 2009.
