Kenya Cup teams have used the tournament as a hunting ground for talent.

Following a two-year hiatus occasioned by the Covid-19 pandemic, Prescott Cup is set to make a comeback on Wednesday 18 May with 10 schools set to participate.

The inter-school competition was inaugurated in 1967 with the objective of developing Rugby in Kenya at the age-grade level with the inaugural participants of the tournament being Rift Valley Academy, Nairobi School, and Lenana School. Later on, St. Mary's School (Nairobi) and Alliance High School joined.

The Prescott Cup was an all-Nairobi affair until 2010 when the Kenya Rugby Union made it a national affair, ensuring schools got to further hone their skills by playing more matches on a more frequent basis.

Schools participating in the 2022 edition of the tournament will be drawn into two groups of five after which the top four teams from each group will proceed to the quarter-finals of the tournament.

Reigning champions Upper Hill School who are currently on a four-peat will headline Pool A which also features Alliance, Ofafa Jericho, Mang’u, and Nairobi School.

Dagoretti High School who are the losing finalists in the 2019 edition will headline Pool B where they will tough it out with Lenana, Rift Valley Academy, Muhuru Muchiri, and Laiser Hill Academy.

The tournament will culminate on Sunday 26 June at the RFUEA Grounds in Nairobi with the final.
