OJ claimed their first ever title, adding to the Prescott they won earlier this year
There is a new sheriff in town after Ofafa Jericho High School narrowly beat Upper Hill School 7-5 to win the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) Nairobi region rugby sevens title.
Upper Hill School aimed to win the tournament they won back in 2019 when the School Games were last held as they went on an enforced break due to Covid-19 pandemic while Ofafa were looking to claim history by winning the tournament for the first time.
The first half was edgey but Ofafa Jericho camped into Upperhill's territory with the reigning champions being let down by basic ball handing skills while Ofafa were handed a sin bin for a deliberate knock on.
Ofafa Jericho drew first blood at the start of the second half with a converted try but Upper Hill's patience paid off as they pulled a try back but missed the conversion from right in the middle of the post.
Upper Hill turned on the screw in the final minutes of the clash but Ofafa had the resolve to hold on to the two point lead and claim a memorable win.
Nairobi School bounced back from their heart breaking 12-7 loss against Ofafa Jericho High School to beat Dagoretti High School 7-5 to finish third in the tournament.
Despite their small statue, Nairobi School displayed quick ball handling skills as they avoided contact rugby to hand Dagoretti a double whammy after their loss against Upperhill in the semi finals.
