KCB will kickstart their season in the Impala Floodlit tournament.

After finishing the 2021-2022 season empty handed, KCB RFC fullback Darwin Mukidza has revealed that the club has made changes to their playing style ahead of the new season.

The Bankers posted an underwhelming campaign last season that saw them fail to win any trophy as they lost the Kenya Cup, Enterprise Cup and the National Sevens Circuit.

KCB will be looking to kickstart their campaign by retaining the Impala Floodlit tournament which will be making a return after a two-year Covid-19 enforced break.

Mukidza noted that their pre-season for the upcoming season has been top notch as they look to alter their style of play which will be tested at the Floodies tournament.

“The preparations have been good, we are still ticking our boxes. We are changing the way we played last season. We still have a lot of work to do.

We believe that the Foodlight tournament will be a very good tournament to see how everything is going but so far so good, I believe we are ready to take on the tournament,” said Mukidza.

KCB were eliminated at the semi finals hurdle by Menengai Oilers in the Kenya Cup and finished as runners up in both the Enterprise Cup and the National Sevens Circuit.

The Kenyan international admitted that being the former Floodies champions they are under pressure to retain their title with every team setting their sights on them.

“Of course there is always some pressure when you are champions because you are the target for the rest of the teams,” added Mukidza.
