Shujaa next face current series leaders Argentina at 3 PM (EAT).
A last gasp try from Terry Kennedy served up heartbreak for Shujaa as Ireland got their London 7s up and running with a 17-14 victory in the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series Circuit.
Another shaky start to the game was witnessed by Shujaa who had a lot of ball in hand but could not convert their early dominance into points as they were let down by poor handling skills.
Kenya were finally made to pay as Harry McNulty went for the audacious offload to Aaron O'Sullivan who strolled into the try box for the five-pointer but the conversion from wide was missed.
Damian McGrath had some stern words for his charges at the interval judging from the feisty start to the second half as Nelson Oyoo set up Edmund Anya with a switch pass that unlocked the Ireland defense with Anthony Omondi adding the extras for a 7-5 lead.
Shujaa again failed to convert the possession to points as Jordan Conroy came off the bench and just had enough pace to beat the Kenya backline to dot down a try of his own which was converted by Mark Roche for a 12-7 lead.
Arcadius Khwesa produced a moment of ecstasy for Shujaa as he ducked under a tackle to race to the try box and touch down his first try in the series which was again converted by Omondi for a 14-12 lead.
With almost two minutes of injury time played, Ireland came back from the pits of despair to win the game courtesy of a try from Terry Kennedy to kick start their London 7s with a victory.
