The tournament will be making a comeback to the home of Kenyan rugby.
Fans are set to be treated to the annual rugby sevens spectacle after the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) announced that the 25th edition of Safari 7s was penciled for Friday 16 to Sunday 18 October.
The tournament which is open to international representative sides, professional and amateur clubs, invitational teams, university and school teams will see Shujaa try retaining their crown after narrowly beating Germany in the 2021 edition.
The tournament is set to make a return to the home of the Kenya Rugby Union, RFUEA after previously being hosted at the Nyayo National Stadium with the Safari 7s Chair, Moses Ndale revealing the reason why.
"We thought that we should take rugby back to where we believe it belongs because we believe it will be a good tournament for everyone who will come to watch the game.
We want to wish and request all the fans to come in large numbers and watch Shujaa and Morans as they will be part of the 12 teams. We are still working on the other 10 teams which we will announce in due course," said Ndale.
The tournament has over the years attracted massive multitude of fans which led to it being hosted at the Moi International Sports Center, Kasarani back in 2013 but in recent years it has witness a decline in fans.
KRU Chairman, Oduor Gangla opened up on the reason why they settled for the dates of the tournament with the national men's rugby 7s side, Shujaa using it as preparations for the HSBC World Rugby Seven Series.
"The series starts on the 4th of November so there is very little time between giving the players a break from the Rugby World Cup and going into what will be a very competitive HSBC Series so those were some of the considerations which we had to play with.
We have seen very good response from Cooperates Kenya and it will only be fair to give every partner that comes on board an unveiling and build the PR between involvement and participation," Gagla noted.
