The fresh line-up comes just days after the Simbas edged out Super Barbarians Rugby 27-24 in a thrilling encounter on Tuesday, 24 June, with Paarwater choosing to rest several starters and offer game time to new faces ahead of next month’s Rugby Africa Cup in Uganda.

Among the notable changes is the return of Hillary Mwanjilwa to the front row after a long injury layoff.

He will pack down alongside Edward Mwaura and Teddy Akala. The second row will see Brian Juma and Emmanuel Silungi combine, while Collins Indeche, Elvis Olukusi, and skipper Elkeans Musonye complete the back row.

In the backs, Samson Onsomu will partner Brian Wahinya at halfback.

Samwel Owuamu and Bryceson Adaka slot into midfield, while the back three features John Okoth on the left wing, Tyson Maina on the right, and Derrick Ashihundu at fullback.

The Simbas are riding high after their morale-boosting 27-24 win over the Barbarians, a contest that saw them dominate early before surviving a fierce second-half comeback.

In that match, Timothy Omela opened the scoring with a try and conversion in the 10th minute, before Patrick Sabaitia added a second.

Kenya led 17-5 at the break but had to dig deep as the Barbarians clawed their way back to within three points late in the game. Omela's late penalty proved decisive as the Simbas held on for their first win of the tour.

Their journey in South Africa has tested the Simbas’ depth and resilience. They began the camp with a 17-17 draw against SWD Eagles, then fell to South Africa U20 twice, 42-24 and 75-19, before playing Sanlam Boland and eventually notching the win against the Barbarians.

Coach Paarwater will be hoping the rotated squad steps up against Limpopo Blue Bulls, giving selectors final insights before naming the squad for continental duty in Uganda come July.
