Kenya Simbas’ backrower Bethuel Anami Muteshi has penned a heartfelt message after his recent departure from French side Stade Caennaise RC.

The experienced player has been an integral part of the team since January 2023.

He has spent one year and eight months with the side, and is now set for departure.

In a farewell message seen by Mozzart Sport, the backrower was grateful for his time in the French side, noting that he learned invaluable lessons.

“Thank you immensely for the incredible experience I’ve had with you. Goodbyes are indeed tough. I have cherished every moment of being part of your club,” he wrote.

“To my mates who welcomed me with open arms and made me a part of your team and culture with such warmth, I am truly grateful. Each one of you has been amazing, and I have treasured every moment spent with you.”

He went on to thank his teammates, the management, and the people of Caen for the moments shared, noting that they will forever linger in his mind.

“Whether our impact on each other was big or small, I value it immensely. Playing alongside all of you has been an honor. I am proud of the battles we fought and the memories we created together. May the bonds we’ve formed and the memories we’ve shared live on forever. I salute each and every one of you.

“Thank you to the coaches for pushing me to grow and become a better player. I appreciate your guidance and support.

“To the presidents, thank you for the opportunity. I will forever be grateful for your love, care, and support.

“Special thanks to all of you, including the staff and the people of Caen, for the friendship, camaraderie, and sportsmanship. Wishing you all the best in your future endeavors,” he concluded.

He did not announce his next destination, but is expected to bring a wealth of experience to the Simbas, who are preparing for the World Cup qualifiers.

Anami played for Strathmore Leos before storming into the limelight, going on to become one of the few players in the country to play professionally.

He wore jersey eight when Simbas finished second in the Rugby Africa Cup.
