Kenya Cup week 6 saw big names fall and humble teams glorified. As the page turns to week 7, rugby fans look forward to yet another jaw-dropping action.

Kenya Cup enters Week 7 on Saturday 21 January with five matches on the cards scheduled for different times in various venues across the country.

Catholic Monks vs MMUST – Catholic University, 4 pm

Catholic Monks will welcome their fellow students MMUST and will keen to upset them. The Monks, who are still adapting to the top tier, are coming from a 35-15 loss to Strathmore Leos and will be keen to utilize the home advantage.

MMUST on the other hand have not tasted a win this season and they will travel to Nairobi keen to upset their hosts. They (MMUST) are placed at the bottom of the log. They lost to Kenya Harlequins last weekend.

According to Collins Ngoko who is the MMUST captain, the team has been righting their wrongs throughout the week, and are well prepared to pick their first win of the season against their fellow students.

“We've been working on our shortcomings throughout the week both on defense and attack. We've had a bad run so far but we haven't let that set us back.”

“We are prepared to face CUEA this coming Saturday and hopefully we will record our first win of the season. So far, the week has been good and the boys are in good form. Everyone is psyched up and ready to give it all.” He added

Kenya Harlequins vs Homeboyz RFC – RFUEA, 4 pm

Both teams are tied at position five, and this match is decisive as it will split their points.

At the RFUEA Grounds, the student will be sitting pretty welcome awaiting the teacher. Kenya Harlequins coach Paul Murunga played for Homeboyz RFC in the past, and this time he welcomes them with a different agenda, to defeat them.

Homeboyz RFC on the other hand have sparkled this year, and despite missing their game against Kabras RFC, they are keeping tabs well with the rest of the teams. They recently won 31-7 over Mean Machine and Oscar Okaron will be tactful to ensure he overpowers Paul ‘Pau’ Murunga.

Mean Machine vs Nakuru RFC – UON Grounds, 4 pm

UON Grounds will play host to these two wounded teams, who will be after nothing but a win on Saturday. Both teams lost their matches last weekend.

Kabras RFC handed Nakuru RFC their first clean sheet of the season (42-0) while Homeboyz RFC overpowered the students.

This weekend, Nakuru RFC will be keen to amass all the points in Nairobi, as the race for the playoffs goes down the wire. Mean Machine, on the other hand, have registered mixed results and will be keen to go past Nakuru RFC. while Homeboyz RFC overpowered the students.

Kabras RFC vs Blak Blad – Kakamega Showground, 4 pm

A narrow 17-16 win over Menengai Oilers will serve as a morale booster to the students, as they will keep the same energy and more to defeat Kabras RFC on Saturday.

Defeating the Sugarmen at their home ground is not an uphill task. Kabras RFC have registered five wins this season, and they are placed third on the log with a game in hand. Kabras RFC are in the race to be crowned 2022/23 Kenya Cup Champions and are not willing to take chances.

KCB RFC vs Strathmore Leos, 4 pm

KCB RFC cemented their Kenya Cup domination last weekend after whipping Mwamba RFC 82-10. The Bankers are now on the top of the table position with 30 points out of the possible 55.

They welcome Strathmore Leos this weekend eager to pick another comfortable home win.

Strathmore Leos have had a poor run this season, but they managed a win last weekend over Catholic Monks and will be looking to extend their winning streak this weekend.
