Only three rounds are left till the end of the 2021/2022 campaign
Last season Kenya Cup runners up Kabras Sugar continued with their fine fettle in the ongoing campaign as they went back to the top of the league standings after bringing Menengai Oilers’ unbeaten run to a grinding halt in matchday 8 and consequently toppling them from the summit.
At the foot of the table, the fight for survival in the top flight will certainly go down to the wire in the three remaining rounds as the decorated trio of former champions Nondescripts, Resolution Impala Saracens and Top Fry Nakuru find themselves embroiled in the relegation scraps.
Here is a wrap of how the action unfolded on Saturday and the consequences of matchday 8.

Menengai Oilers 17-32 Kabras Sugar
Prior to the match, both sides were unbeaten since the season started and Oilers topped the standings having played an extra game.
In the clash staged at the ASK Grounds in Nakuru, Kabras managed to reclaim top spot as they ran in four tries to hand Oilers their first loss of the season as they secured a bonus point to go with the victory that sent them back to the top of the table on 35 points while Oilers on the other hand dropped to second.

Kenya Harlequin 10-45 KCB
Reigning Kenya Cup champions KCB RFC successfully managed to weather an early storm by Kenya Harlequin as they came from behind to record an emphatic 10-45 win over their fellow eight time champions in an encounter staged at the RFUEA Grounds.
With the win, KCB stayed in third on 31 points and cut down the gap to second placed Oilers to only two points.
Quins stayed fifth on 15 points, a whooping fifteen behind the playoff spots.
Strathmore Leos 30-24 Homeboyz
Strathmore Leos all but confirmed their playoff spot in the 2021/2022 Kenya Cup season as they recorded their sixth win of the campaign following their victory against Homeboyz RFC at the RFUEA Grounds.
Sitting in fourth on 30 points, Leos need only one more point to confirm the playoff position for this season.
Homeboyz on the other hand have all to fight for as they sit fourth from bottom on 11 points, just one above the relegation places.
With two of their last three fixtures coming against fellow relegation candidates Impala and Nondescripts, the Deejayz will need to put their best foot forward if they are to survive. The third clash will be up against Kabras in between the two crucial games.
Nondescripts 22-23 Top Fry Nakuru
2013 and 2014 champions Nakuru managed to rally from 22-6 down at halftime as they overcame Nondies for only their second win of the season that left them one point above the drop zone.
Impala 31-14 Mwamba
Impala Saracens managed to bring themselves to within a point of safety as they recorded just their second win of the season that ended Mwamba’s three match winning streak.
Sitting in second last, Impala have games against Homeboyz, Nondies before wrapping the season against MMUST.
