Prior to the tie, both sides were certainly aware of the importance of the potential season saving fixture as only one point separated second last Impala from the Deejayz who sat fourth from bottom on 11 points.
In a first half that was laden by penalties, Homeboyz managed to find the period's only try as they led 11-5 at the half time break.
The Sarries were the first to take the lead though. Top points scorer this season Quinto Oongo drilled in his penalty kick for an early 0-3 Impala lead.
Brian Ayimba however nullified his strike as he converted two penalties to give Homeboyz a first time 6-3 lead.
Zeden Marrow then extended his team's lead as he fended off his markers before landing the first try of the match. The conversion was however short as Homeboyz led 11-3 at the break.
The fight for points continued in the second half and the only way to get them was once again through penalties as both defenses remained resolute.
For a brief moment, Impala appeared set for their second win of the season as Oongo drilled in two penalties to take them 11-12 ahead.
The side however failed to hold onto their lead as they were punished late on with two Homeboyz penalties that sealed the 17-12 win.
The only saving grace for Impala was the losing point bonis they got after keeping the defeat a less than seven point affair.
