Curtis Olago’s KCB will be out to prevent yet another trophy less campaign after being beaten 19-9 by the same opponents in the 22/23 Kenya Cup final.

Two of the biggest rugby opponents in the country, KCB RFC and Kabras Sugar RFC, are set to renew their rivalry once again when they meet in the 2023 Enterprise Cup final slated to take place this Saturday 15 April at the RFUEA Grounds.

In what will be a repeat of the 2022 final that saw Kabras Sugar beat the bankers 9-6 to complete the season double, both sides will be on different collision courses but with the same aim with silverware on the line.

KCB’s forwards coach Dennis Mwanja says the side has the opportunity to test their depth as they go to battle without key players who are on national duty with the Kenya 15’s Simbas squad that departs on Friday 14 April to play in the Currie Cup.

The bankers will be without six players in Thomas Okidia, Griffin Musila, Elvis Olukusi, Samuel Asati, Brian Wahinya and Peter Kilonzo but Mwanja sees no problem with this.

“With the absence of some players in the team, it presents an opportunity for other players who are equal to the task to rise up the occasion. At KCB we pride ourselves in giving opportunities to every player that walks in and proves themselves,” Mwanja told KRU media in an interview.

While Kabras will be looking to complete the season double for the second year in a row, Curtis Olago’s KCB will be out to prevent yet another trophy less campaign after being beaten 19-9 by the same opponents in the 22/23 Kenya Cup final.

“Throughout the season we have had the capability to field any player, but now that the players have been taken to the national team, those who are available and good enough will step up to the plate and play.

It is an exciting time, it is a time to show our depth. We have the depth, we have the players and we are looking at the future. We are looking building for the upcoming assignments. It is a great time and we are excited about it,” he added.

The match will kick off at 3.00pm and will be preceded by the Nationwide final at 1.00pm between Mombasa and JKUAT Cougars. The Mwamba Cup final between KCB II and Kenya Harlequin II takes place at 11.00am.
