
Kakamega County rugby 15s: Koyonzo, Kakamega through to quarterfinals

Kakamega County 15s Champions, Koyonzo High School are through to the quarterfinals of the county games after winning all their matches on Thursday.
The East Africa rugby 7s champions saw off their hometown neighbors Kakamega School 14-6 in a closely contested first pool match held in Lugari.
Eric Simiyu drilled in three penalties with Rodgers Alukwe scoring the sole try for the team. Kakamega High managed their sole penalty courtesy of Ryan Juma.
The win served as their motivation heading to the second pool match. They proceeded to defeat Malava Boys 48-3.
Alukwe showcased his prowess with a brace of tries, supported by Bravin Onyango, Zachariah Omar, Simiyu, and Michael Ligendi, who each contributed a try. Simiyu also successfully converted three tries, while Timothy Wesonga added one conversion.
Koyonzo were joined by Kakamega’s Barbarians at the quarterfinal stage. The Barbarians were coming from an impressive performance against Malava Boys where they secured a resounding 49-0 victory.
In that match, the Barbarians who were under the tutelage of former Malava Boys tactician Amos Wamanga scored seven converted tries.
Austine Shuma impressed managed two tries and a conversion, contributing 12 points to the victory.
Javan Odongo, Shavan Ochieng, Davies Green, Rhonnie Musasia, and Bryson Makori all added their names to the scoring party. Ryan Juma’s magical boots successfully converted six tries for the Barbarians.
