Kakamega 7s: Oilers, KCB win successive matches to secure main cup quarter final spots

Nakuru and Strathmore Leos also picked their second consecutive wins in round 2.

The top two teams in the 2022 National Sevens Circuit, Menengai Oilers and KCB, continued with their flawless start to the season ending Kakamega 7s outing as they picked their second successive wins in the Round 2 matches played on Saturday afternoon at the Bull Ring Arena, Kakamega.

Being the two sides firmly in control of clinching the overall 7s title, Oilers and KCB continued with their perfect start to the games as they won their second matches to all but secure their place in the main cup quarter finals.

Log leading Oilers, who top the table on 94 points, four ahead of second placed KCB, recorded a 21-14 victory over Nondies while KCB thumped promoted Kabarak University 32-5 to successfully ensure 2/2 wins.

Joining the party of teams to win their second matches was Strathmore Leos who backed up their 27-7 win against Kisumu in Round 1 with a 33-0 whitewash of Catholic Monks.

Homeboyz, who were stunned in Round 1 by Nakuru, managed to pick up their first win of the tournament with a 17-5 victory over Western Bulls.

A resurgent Nakuru also made it two wins in two with a 20-7 victory over Kenya Harlequin.
