The win not only cemented Kabras’ stay at the summit of the table but also marked a historic 50-match winning streak for the Sugarmen.

It initially looked like it would be a free-scoring afternoon for the hosts when they struck with their first meaningful visit to the opposition 22.

From a quick break, Eric Cantona flicked a neat pass to Mathias Osimbo, who dotted down in the corner in just the second minute. Cantona, however, failed to add the extras from a tight angle.

Despite camping deep inside the Nondies 22 for extended spells, Kabras struggled to convert pressure into points. Their second try eventually came in the 17th minute when Griffin Chao finished off a sweeping move down the left wing.

Nondies responded in the 22nd minute, Calvin Sheunda calmly slotting home a penalty to trim the deficit to 10-3. The visitors remained resolute in defence, holding up a Hillary Odhiambo effort over the line and capitalising on a string of Kabras’ attacking penalties that disrupted the hosts’ rhythm.

A missed late kick at goal denied Nondies a further reduction before halftime, as Kabras headed into the break with a modest 10-3 advantage.

The second half began with renewed energy from Nondies, who dominated the early exchanges and threatened to upset the rhythm of the champions. But Kabras gradually regained control.

Chao completed his brace with a well-taken try to stretch the lead to 15-3 before Walter Okoth crossed over in the 54th minute after sustained pressure, pushing the score to 20-8.

Cantona then got on the scoresheet himself, diving over in the corner after being released by Derrick Ashihundu to seal the 25-8 victory. Fidens Tony grabbed a late consolation try for Nondies, though the conversion attempt drifted wide.

Kabras nearly breached the 30-point mark, only for a final effort to be ruled held up by the referee, denying them further gloss on the scoreboard.

Elsewhere, KCB Rugby delivered the headline result of the weekend with a narrow 25-15 victory over Menengai Oilers at the Nakuru Athletic Club.

The result handed the Oilers their first loss of the season in what was a tightly contested clash at the refinery.

KCB’s disciplined approach and ability to capitalise on key moments ultimately proved decisive, as they kept pace with the leaders and tightened the race at the top.
