The victory came with its financial benefits, approximately US$5,000, approximately Ksh648,250.
They began their run with a 36-0 thumping of Old Hararians in the opening pool match and followed it up with a 41-0 demolition of Pitbulls to reach the quarterfinal stage.
At this stage, the Morans ran a 48-0 havoc on Old Miltonians to cruise to the semifinals, where they inflicted a staggering 61-0 defeat on Old Georgians to reach the final stage.
At the final stage, Floyd Wabwire was the star of the show as he scored the two tries that powered the Morans past hosts Zimbabwe Cheetahs.
The triumph over Zimbabwe marked the third consecutive win for the Morans against the Cheetahs in just over a month.
During last month’s Safari Sevens, the Morans had beaten Zimbabwe twice, 27-7 in the pool stage and 19-12 in the third-place playoff.
Head coach Kevin Wambua made ten changes from the Safari Sevens squad, opting for a mix of youth and experience as he looks to build on the momentum.
Missing from the roster were key figures such as Elvis Olukusi (KCB), the Strathmore Leos trio of Barnabas Owuor, Elton Amalemba, and Arnold Muita, Arnold Agonda (Daystar Falcons), and Eugene Ojiambo (Mwamba).
In their place, Wambua recalled seasoned campaigners including Gabriel Ayimba, Dennis Abukuse, Chrissant Ojwang, and Floyd Wabwire, whose leadership steadied the youthful side.
Kabras RFC's youngster, Rayvon Ambale, was crowned the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament. He walked away with Ksh65,000.
With such commanding performances, Wambua will take confidence in the depth and talent emerging within Kenya’s Sevens setup as the national team gears up for a busy 2025 calendar.
