It was the third meeting in the longer version of the game between the two sides this year.

Kabras RFC beat longtime rivals KCB Rugby 30-27 in a dramatic Enterprise Cup final played at the RFUEA Grounds on Saturday 15 April.

The bankers and the sugar men were meeting yet again for the Enterprise Cup final, this time KCB keen to win their first title of the year.

With the rivalry between the two sides hitting fever-pitch levels in such encounters, there was drama on and off the pitch with a fan ejected by police at some point.

The last Enterprise Cup meeting between these two sides was in April 2022 with Kabras RFC emerging 9-6 champions to lift the title for the second consecutive time.

Both teams were playing without their key players, with the bankers missing the services of Brian Wahinya, Samuel Asati, Elvis Olukusi and Thomas Okidia among others who are out on international duty.

Kabras RFC on the other hand missed the services of players like fullback Ntabeni Dukisa, Hillary Odhiambo, Brian Juma and George Nyambua among other players.

The teams coaches Carlos Kyatwa and Curtis Olago also travelled with Simbas as assistant coaches.

To advance to this stage, Kabras RFC narrowly overpowered Menengai Oilers 19-17 at the Kakamega Showground while KCB Rugby heaped a 63-4 misery on helpless Impala RFC.

It was Darwin Mukidza who first scored for the bankers following Salano's neck tackle that saw them penalised.

Minutes after Darwin drilled in the penalty, before the game was stopped after Dan Sikuta's injury and medics had to attend to him.

Following that, the bankers quickly restructured to score the first try off Jacob Ojee's huge bursts of speed. Mukidza failed to convert to see the scores turn to 8-0. KCB lead.

Dennis Mwanja’s charges then added another five-pointer courtesy of F Maina. Mukidza's magical boots picked the extras. Scores 15-0. KCB Rugby then added another penalty to see the scores rise to 18-0.

The sugar men, sensing defeat, then introduced Kenyan International Brian Tanga. A series of passes followed before the ball landed on Sikuta's hands. He scored the first try for Kabra with Valerian Tendwa converting before the end of the first half. Scores 18-7.

In the opening minutes of the closing half, both sides traded two penalties to see the score move to 24-13.

Kabras then scored a converted try before KCB replied with a penalty to make the scores 27-20. Another Kabras penalty would then make matters 27-23 with the second half slowly heading into its sunset days.

Sabatia Patrick scored the final converted to see the scores turn to 30-27 before the sound of the final whistle.

Focus now shifts to the shorter version of the game.
