Shujaa will now face Canada in the 9th Place Quarter Final.
The national men's rugby sevens side, Shujaa extended their wretched form in the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series as they lost all their Pool A clashes against Samoa, Fiji, and France, leaving them staring down the barrel.
Shujaa had displayed signs of improvement in Cape Town 7s after finishing 13th but were drawn in a fiendish pool that saw them come up against the series' most inform team Samoa, 2019 World Champions Fiji, and France.
Damian McGrath's side got off to the wrong footing in Hamilton as they suffered a 31-5 loss to Samoa but went into the halftime break level on 5-5 after a brilliant try from Anthony Omondi and went on capitulate in the second half by conceding four tries.
Shujaa faced a daunting task against Fiji, a side they have failed to beat in the last 11 head to heads with the last victory coming back in June 2018 and extended that poor run with a 21-7 defeat with Brian Tanga grabbing the sole try.
Kenya 7s showed much improvement in their final Pool clash against France but Nelson Epee was a constant thorn in the flesh of Shujaa as he plundered a hat-trick with Anthony Omondi, Alvin Otieno and Brain Tanga getting on the try list for Kenya.
Shujaa will now face Canada in the 9th Place Quarter Final on Saturday 21 January in an 11:30 PM kick-off.
Kenya are flirting with relegation as the series is structured so that at the end of the penultimate event in Toulouse, the 15th-ranked team will be relegated to the 2024 Challenger Series while the 12th to 14th-ranked teams will face off against the Challenger Series 2023 winner for the final position in the 2024 World Series.
