Ayimba, who is the son of the late Kenya 7s coach Benjamin Ayimba, is known for his on-pitch exploits with the Leos and the national teams Shujaa and Morans.
This time, however, he is stepping into the world of acting. This new role embraces his creative side. Beyond the pitch, Ayimba is a talented dancer who is not afraid to bring his charisma and authenticity on board.
Ayimba’s inclusion in the main cast comes after a highly competitive nationwide audition held in October 2024, where over 1,600 hopefuls vied for a role.
The show, which premieres on Wednesday, 14 May at 8 PM on BET and YouTube, is celebrated for its unfiltered storytelling and its ability to tackle real-life issues affecting young people in Kenya and across the region.
The series continues its mission to inform and inspire, addressing themes such as sexual and reproductive health, mental health, peer pressure, consent, ambition, and the importance of agency.
He joins a vibrant and diverse cast of rising and established talent, including Serah Wanjiru, Basil Mungai, Matthew Ngugi, Wilson Muchemi, Fatuma Gichuru, Julie Brenda, Fridah Mumbe, Mariam Bishar, and Makena Kahuha.
Wanjiru is known for her role in Netflix’s Volume (2023), while Mungai gained attention in Click Click Bang (2022), and Ngugi recently starred in the musical Mo Faya (2024). Muchemi, popular for his comedic content online, makes his television debut with this series, and Gichuru steps into her first major TV role following a strong stage presence.
Produced as part of the Surround Sound Kenya Programme, a collaboration between MTV Staying Alive Foundation and Shujaaz Inc., the new season is more than just entertainment. It is a movement aimed at challenging harmful social norms and encouraging informed decision-making among young people.
